What to expect during a lifestyle session...
If you have never had a lifestyle session before I have put together a few common questions and answers for you to look at. However, if you have any other questions at all then please do not hesitate to contact me before your session.
Where will my session take place? Do you have a studio?
Most of my family sessions take place on location, here on the Wirral we have so many beautiful places and families are best captured where they have the most fun!
I do however, have a beautiful cosy lifestyle studio that is perfect for cold days when it is not the best time to go outside. Instead you can cosy up and enjoy each others company. Indoor photoshoots are more personal and focus on the bond of the family rather than the fun adventure that takes place outdoors.
Depending on the session you book, depends on where the session takes place. If booking a location photoshoot, I usually recommend beach, sand dunes or forest sessions although if you have a different idea of where you would like to go then please let me know! I love new places!
There are so many beautiful locations in the North West that I have many options available. It all depends on what you and you family loves doing the most.
How long with our session last?
A session will typically last 1 - 1.5 hours although I do not clock watch during a full session. I find children struggle to concentrate after this time, although if they are enjoying themselves then I will carry on!!!
Occasionally I offer Mini sessions that are timed and last 20 minutes.
When will our session take place?
I am open for photoshoots every day but I mainly do sessions at the weekend although I love golden hour either first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening just before the sun goes down. These make the best photos! However if these times do not suit you I can work with you to find the best time.
What happens if it rains at the time of our outdoor session?
Rain and strong winds are common in the North West so therefore when we book a session I will give you a back up date as well, just in case it does rain.
I keep an eye on the weather forecast the day before and will confirm with you beforehand. Experience has taught me not to look before the day before as it changes constantly!!!
How should I prepare?
Pretend you are going on a family day out, wear something that you feel comfortable in and feel good in.
If you are booked in for a studio session then as above. I advise neutral colours that are timeless, no big logos as these usually go out of fashion.
My style is very calming and beige, greys, blacks or whites usually work well.
You could consider bringing some none messy snacks for when your children become hungry (aren't they always!!) and to keep them busy during a break.
Wet wipes are also handy, especially at the beach or forest or for runny noses!
If your child has a favourite toy or book or cuddly toy then bring it along too!
What happens after the session?
After your session I will post a sneak peak within 24 hours on Facebook if you have agreed to this and you may share it with your friends and family, if you do not wish to be on social media, then I will send you a sneak peak to your WhatsApp instead. I will then contact you once the gallery is ready to view, approximately 1-2 weeks after your session.
I will then invite you come for a viewing and a chat. I find this is a much nicer experience for you as you will be able to view your gallery on a large screen and I can talk you thorough everything personally. I do believe that your favourite photos should be printed and printed well. I will talk you through the different types of prints that are available to you and the difference between them. There is no selling pressure at all, I feel that it is my job as a photographer to show you all the different ways on how to display the photos in the best possible way so that you can admire and enjoy them for years to come.
If you have chosen a package that includes a photo album we can choose the photos together and I can show you the amazing quality of the album from my sample. If you need a few days to decide then that is absolutely fine.
